Defra from Poland is a Deftrans brand, a manufacturer of high-quality bathroom and kitchen furniture with factories and offices located in three regions. The first factory was established in 1996 in Milicz, near the Barycz Valley Landscape Park in Lower Silesia. In 2006, production was moved to a brand new facility in Odolanów in Wielkopolska, and in 2020 another factory opened production in Jedlanka in the Lublin region. Both factories are located in well-known ‘Natura 2000’ areas in Poland.
The Deftrans team consists of more than 600 employees and specialists, managed according to the best European standards. We currently produce 100,000 pieces of furniture per month, for customers from more than 30 countries around the world.
It’s not just the furniture design that matters to us, but also its quality and functionality. We use tried and tested components and modern technologies to extend each product’s life span. We believe that a good piece of furniture is one that looks as great today as it does in 15 years. This is why we create top quality furniture in line with current trends, yet universal in design.
We’re passionate about creating trends and implementing innovative technologies. We consistently expand our product range, develop our machinery park, invest in research, and conquer global markets. We focus on modern technologies because our future depends on them. Ecology matters too, so we optimise production to be environmentally friendly.
We believe that our business success comes from technological efficiency and engineering know-how, along with a humanistic approach to people and the environment. Honesty and reliability towards customers, employees, and contractors are the key values that guide us in business and everyday life.

Spearheaded by the Defra brand and including institutions supporting social development – the Kreatywny Obiekt Multifunkcyjny (KOM) educational and arts centre, and the Społeczna Szkoła Podstawowa primary school – the Deftrans Group creates a harmonious organisational system where business, education and culture intersect.
Defra is a collection of furniture created for the needs of modern users, with a sense of responsibility for nature and attention to good design and aesthetic detail.
The KOM Foundation, established by Deftrans, promotes educational and cultural development in the region. Its main project is the Astrid Lindgren Primary School in Milicz, which runs innovative educational programs that instil responsible attitudes and develop key skills for the future.
KOM (Kreatywny Obiekt Multifunkcyjny, which translates directly into English as Creative Multifunctional Facility) operates on the site of the former Milicz glass Christmas tree ornament factory. This educational and tourist centre located in the Barycz Valley also features the Bauble Museum and the Lower Silesian Template Embassy. It deals with anything that falls under the umbrella of education, culture and tourism, supporting regional cultural heritage and local artists.
The Deftrans Group’s values – reliability, respect and responsibility – are reflected in the implementation of innovative solutions for the natural environment, and in the actions of the KOM Foundation at Deftrans to ensure the well-being and development of future generations, while also preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the region. Our social responsibility is also exemplified by our ethical conduct towards employees, business partners and competitors alike.
FOR OUR REGION
We believe that smart, responsible business in the 21st century is not just about production and sales. Deftrans has proudly supported local culture and education for nearly two decades.

Defra – a Deftrans brand – offers furniture with a universal and timeless design, sold in Poland, Europe and around the world. We specialise in furniture with classic designs, which is easy to arrange and retains its visual appeal throughout many long years of use. Functionality is also enormously important – we produce carefully thought-out and designed furniture that can be adjusted flexibly to individual needs and interior dimensions. In everything we do, we strive for ecological and optimised production to be as friendly as possible for the natural environment.

KOM (Kreatywny Obiekt Multifunkcyjny), which directly translates into English as Creative Multifunctional Facility, is an educational and tourist centre in the Barycz Valley, located in the premises of what was once a glass ornament factory in Milicz. In 2013, KOM was ranked among the top three finalists of the prestigious Dofa’13 architecture festival in the Interior & Design category, for the building’s creative revitalisation. Today, we run modern educational programs for schools and kindergartens, creative workshops, as well as business and special events here. KOM’s cultural legacy is the Bauble Museum, with its collection of valuable exhibits, and the Druha Bolka Gallery – dedicated to Bolesław Zajiczek, a Milicz sports and tourism legend.

The Astrid Lindgren School is located in Milicz, in a former glass ornament factory rebuilt and adapted to the school’s needs. The school was established in 2014 and is run by the KOM Foundation. Here we employ highly qualified and professional teachers with backgrounds in general education, psychology, art and management. The lessons are held in spacious and fully equipped rooms. In addition to mathematics, foreign languages and computer graphics, we teach our children to express their own opinion and solve complex problems, as well as the principles of good communication and cooperation.
The idea behind the Lower Silesian Template is to offer a contemporary interpretation of regional folklore, which is constantly evolving in response to the changing environment and the diversity of the Silesians, while at the same time bridging the present, past and future.
The Lower Silesian Template represents the intangible cultural legacy that builds a sense of belonging to the Lower Silesian community. Lower Silesia is a region that lost its cultural distinctiveness after 1945. The population is ethnographically diverse, creating a unique mosaic of traditions and cultures from various regions of Poland, the eastern borderlands and currently many national minorities too. Thanks to creative transformations, the Lower Silesian Template remains relevant for many ethnic groups currently inhabiting Lower Silesia, giving them a sense of identity and continuity through time.

The bathroom is a sanctuary for relaxation and unwind, and it’s a well-known fact that we experience much greater comfort in aesthetically pleasing interiors. The appropriate arrangement of this space has a huge impact on well-being, because after all, the day begins and ends in the bathroom. Creating beautiful and functional bathrooms that stand the test of time is our mission, and we dedicate all our efforts and work philosophy to accomplish it.
When producing Defra furniture, we focus on interesting and timeless design. We devote a lot of attention to details, as they are what make the interior unique. Our belief is that beauty lies in simple things that just need to be given the right form. Hence, we select minimalist design and incorporate intricately crafted milling, visually appealing handles, or decorative grooves. These elements make even the simplest furniture gain a unique character.
Our capital is first and foremost our people, whom we support with modern technologies.

Thousands of products pass through our production lines every day. We ensure that they all meet high quality standards. We invest in machinery and production automation, thereby improving efficiency and production capacity.
Quality goes hand in hand with design, because beautiful furniture is made of good components. Thanks to them, we create durable and timeless solutions. Defra furniture will stand the test of time and will please its owners for many years, which is also important for ecological reasons.
Intriguing design and excellent quality are two of the three distinguishing features of our furniture. The third one is functionality. Defra brand collections are precisely thought out and carefully designed furniture that can be flexibly adjusted to your own needs and interior dimensions. These are ergonomic furniture items designed to make everyday use of the bathroom easier, solve storage issues, and ensure effortless maintenance. The use of carefully chosen components and advanced technologies guarantees a high standard throughout the entire lifespan of the bathroom.
